Why do people join hands when praying? It is a common act of Christians to join hands when praying but it was never mentioned in the Bible, in fact it was never part of the Christian tradition until 9th century. Until that time Hebrews and Christian prayed with spreading the arms and hands towards the heaven. However scholars believed that the joining of hands developed out of the shackling of the hands of prisoners. Christianity then adopted the gesture as a sing of man's total obedience to the divine power. Another theory is that Christianity adopted this gesture from the Buddhist Monks in the 9th century.
The total number of Christian in the world is approximately 2 billion, half of which are Roman Catholic
Check this out!! In 1970 an Arizona lawyer named Russel Tansie filed a $100, 000 damage law suite against God, on behalf of his secretary, Betty Penrose. The lady accused God of negligence in His power over weather when He allowed a lighting bolt to strike her home. Ms. Penrose won the case when the defendant failed to appear in court. But whether or not she has collected the $100, 000 has not been recorded.
