The worst peacetime sea tragedy of all time was.....no not Titanic. It is the sinking of the passenger ship Dona Paz in December 20, 1987. Cruising between Romblon and Mindoro Philippines after colliding with a oil tanker MV Vector. Out of more than 3000 passengers only 26 lived to tell the tale. Titanic had 1500 deaths in 1912.
