Why does a mosquito bite itches? They actually don't bite, they stab. When a mosquito it stabs the victim's skin with six needle like parts called stylets, extracts the victim's blood, and fills the wound with its saliva, which prevents the blood from clotting. Most of us are allergic to the saliva and an itchy welt called a "mosquito bite" form on the skin.

Did you know only female mosquito bite. Only they posses the proboscis designed for bitting and blood-sucking. The make cannot bite no matter how hard he might try, and is content living on plant juices. Females need to suck blood to fertilize their eggs to make a nest of 250 eggs.
